How I would give a Gospel Presentation

Gospel Presentation

Here is my gospel presentation....there are many verses like these in the Bible. But I encourage you to know these verses or others like it, inside and out, backwards and forwards so you can give them to somebody by memory....and in the process God might do to you what he did to me.

Verse 1 - Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord".

Meaning we can't earn eternal life, it is a gift by God's grace.

Verse 2 - 1 John 1:8-9 - "if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness".

Meaning we just need to ask God to forgive us from all of our sins. Jesus knows all of our sins, even the ones we forget so don't worry if you can't remember all of them....God does and will forgive you for them. Now after that how many times do you need to ask God to forgive you for your past sins.....once!! Thats it....you don't need to keep asking God to forgive you for the same sin in your past over and over again. For example if you stole something from a store years ago and you asked God to forgive you already....do you have to ask him to forgive you again as an adult for that same sin, no.

But Satan will try to trick you by saying hey Jason remember when you stole from that store as a kid years ago. Your really not that good of a Christian. You really blew it so you better ask God to forgive you again. So then I ask God to forgive me again, then Satan does the same thing and you get caught in this cycle. So what are you doing....by doing this your doubting God and also putting yourself into a negative spiral.

So here is what you do. The first time you ask God to forgive you. Then when Satan comes to say hey your not a good Christian and you better ask God to forgive you guess what you say....this time you say God THANK YOU FOR ALREADY taking care of that one!! So now your in a positive praise cycle instead of a negative spiral downward in guilt and depression. When your in a praise cycle it makes Satan mad and Jesus happy :-).

Verse 3 - 1 John 5:11-13 - "And this is the testimony: That God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his son. He who has the son has life; he who does not have the son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the son of God".

Meaning we can now be sure of salvation as long as we continue to trust him. Once we trust him we will want to obey him and keep all of his commandments because we love him. If your trusting in him and holding onto him and growing your relationship with him you have eternal life. If you don't, you don't have eternal life. Pretty straight forward right?

Verse 4 - John 8:34-36 - "Jesus answered them, Most assuredly I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the son makes you free, you shall be free indeed".

Meaning he has set us free to live a new life free from sin.

Jesus wants us over time to have more and more victories and to learn, to not make the same mistakes and sins over and over again.

Verse 5 - John 14:15 - "If you love me keep my commandments".

Meaning he didn't say to keep his commandments so we could be good enough did he? NO!! We keep his commandments because he HAS saved us not because we WANT to be saved. We are judged by works as it says in James 2:14 and James 2:24 but are only saved by Grace and Jesus's sacrifice on the cross.

Verse 6 - 1 John 2:1 - "My little children, these things I write to you, so you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."

Meaning if we sin and blow it again, we can go to Jesus and ask for forgiveness as it says in 1 John 1:9 as stated early.

So you see what Jesus wants to do for you. He wants to trade the death you deserve and give you the life he deserves. He will forgive your record and give you eternal life. It still blows me away every time I think about it.
